48th International Accordion Prize
“Città di Castelfidardo” for Soloists and Groups

The City Council of Castelfidardo, located in the Marche region of Italy, is collaborating with the Castelfidardo Pro Loco Tourist Association to organize the PIF International Competition “Città di Castelfidardo.” This competition is exclusively for solo accordionists and groups who perform classical music and other genres. Additionally, there will be a music festival that highlights the accordion.
The Castelfidardo Municipal Administration is under the leadership of Mayor Roberto Ascani, while the Castelfidardo Pro Loco is headed by Ruben Cittadini. The 2023 PIF Artistic Director is Antonio Spaccarotella, who possesses an impressive musical background. He currently holds the position of accordion professor at the Conservatory of Music of Catanzaro P.I. Tchaikovsky. Moreover, he serves as the production director of the Calabrian Philharmonic Orchestra, a highly acclaimed emerging orchestra on the international stage. Throughout his career, Spaccarotella has performed concerts in 40 countries and conducted advanced training courses at prestigious universities and conservatories worldwide.
Antonio Spaccarotella holds great appreciation and respect for the previous editions of PIF Castelfidardo, which have shaped and defined its current status. Consequently, he intends to introduce an innovative approach while honoring the traditional vision. He firmly believes that striking a balance between the two facets of the accordion is crucial for revitalizing the instrument’s presence in educational, artistic, and commercial domains.
